Design Technology

“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

Department Vision

Design Technology at BWH aims to be a vibrant and creative environment where students have a hands-on approach to their learning. Students across all Key Stages work in all the DT areas, including; Resistant Materials, graphics, Computer Aided Design (CAD), product design, textiles and food and nutrition. For their first two years all pupils are given chance to experience each subject enabling them to make informed choices as to where their skills and interests lie. As pupils move on to take GCSE options they can choose to specialise in either Design Technology or Food and Nutrition.

The department has dedicated specialist equipment and teachers who have relevant industry experience.

A real ‘hands-on’ department, encouraging creativity and confidence in all pupils.
